I just returned from the first Colonial GT 40k tournament. I had an absolute blast. I would also like to send a congrats to all the guys that helped run the event, Greg, Bill, Steve, Dave and all the others. I had the pleasure of facing 5 outstanding opponents this weekend. And i would like to spend some time talking about each opponent and recap each game.
My first opponent was Bill Bauer. A friend i've known for quite some time, but had never gotten to play against in tournament style. Bill is the perfect opponent, he is loud, funny, plays with some off the wall lists and likes to toss back a cocktail or 5 during a game!
here are a few pics of Bill's ultra marines at deployment.
things went well round one for me as i blew up the auto/las cannon predator and stunned a rhino.
here comes his captain, freshly finished just the night before and his command squad. little do they know they are coming to their doom! muhuhahaha
onward they come, bravely running to assist an overwhelmed assault squad. Little did they know the Forgefather himself was waiting just around the corner to meet them.
the assault squad could not deal with the power of the flamers unleashed upon them before the assault. After wiping out the assault and command squads, Vulkan and first sgt Murray set off to secure and objective. But Bill had a few surprises of his own. Just after his assault scouts viciously murdered my techmarine and his thunderfire cannon, they set off to find greater glory.
Unfortunately for Bill, the Forgefather sensed their presence and disposed of them quickly. After teleporting my assault terminators deep in Bill's territory, they stood tall and withstood a maelstrom of bolter, plasma and melta fire from 25 of Bill's tactical marines, but in the end, the armor and faith in the emperor was stronger with the terminators.
And in the end, after a half of bottle of kettle one, my die rolling was far superior to Bill's, and i was able to come out on top with a decisive victory. I look forward to the next GT and possibly facing Bill again, hopefully against his space wolves.
The boys in blue have the bodies, but not the combat prowness of the long haired, feral chiuauahs!
ReplyDeleteWas a good game. Scouts TOTALLY had Vulkan, TOTALLY!
I think I need a vindicator to make the wolves a bit more silly and random..
